ANZAC Dawn Service at Cardwell Cenotaph
5:45 am as the sun was rising, the Dawn Service was hosted by the Cardwell RSL Sub-Branch

The March commenced at 1030am, marching about 200 metres along the foreshore walkway, the march was led by a piper and base drummer.Following the March the wreath laying ceremony commenced.

Following the ANZAC Day formalities everyone was invited back to the Cardwell RSL club house for a wholesome lunch and activates.

Cardwell RSL Continues its support for local scools.

The Cardwell RSL Committee are very proud of our fund-raising efforts especially the events around Anzac Day and the Battle of the Coral Sea ceremonies.

The committee decided to donate the following amounts to the

Parents & Citizens groups at each of the following local schools:

Cardwell State School                         $2,000.00

Kennedy State School                          $1,000.00

Murray River Upper State School    $1,000.00

Tully High School                                    $    500.00

Gilroy Santa Maria College                  $     500.00

Our Lady of Lourdes College              $     500.00

Total amount donated =                        $5,500.00

We have our 40mm Bofors Gun Plaque,  now all we need is a finished gun for display! All should be ready for the official opening at 12:00pm on Sunday the 12th of July here at the Cardwell RSL Sub Branch.

This plaque was very generously supported by our C.O.F 15/26 grant application.

Sadly, our long serving regular bar assistant has announced her retirement from the duties of bar assistant. Cardwell RSL Club and all it’s members thank Lenora for her dedicated volunteer service behind the bar every Sunday
